Refresh, Enable, Disable IntelliSense Feature in SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio)

Introduction

Microsoft IntelliSense is one of the feature that is available in the text editor of SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio).
It would reduce our Typings and provide us quick access to syntax info. In this blogpost, we are going to know how to Refresh IntelliSense when it shows ‘Error with red line‘ , and Enable / Disable IntelliSense feature.

To Refresh IntelliSense Or To Refresh Local Cache

If any objects are missing from IntelliSense features,
we can choose one of the below options to refresh the cache.

  1. Go to the Edit menu, select IntelliSense, then select Refresh Local Cache.
  2. Use the keyboard shortcut – ‘CTRL+Shift+R‘ .
  3. Disconnect our editor window from the instance of the Database Engine and Reconnect.

To Enable or Disable IntelliSense

To Enable or Disable IntelliSense in SSMS, Go to Tools menu,select Options like below.

Tools–>Options in SSMS
Enable or Disable IntelliSense in SSMS

Make the Tick in the Checkbox to Enable IntelliSense . To make it Disable, untick the checkbox.

Conclusion

By Default, the IntelliSense option will be in Enable mode in most cases. Based on our need, we can make changes like above. In Azure Data Studio, Refreshing the Cache will happens automatically.
