ON and OFF IntelliSense within Session in SSMS

Introduction

In this blog post, we will see how to Switch ON or OFF IntelliSense within Session Level in SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio).

Refresh, Enable and Disable IntelliSense Feature in SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) works commonly for all sessions. But here, we will see how to Enable or Disable IntelliSense within Session level in SSMS.

Sample SQL Script

SELECT 1 AS NUM 
INTO Testtable;

SELECT 25 AS NUM 
INTO Testtable;

ON and OFF IntelliSense within Session in SSMS

Within the Session to switch ON IntelliSense, we can simply do Right Click and choose IntelliSense Enabled option. For Keyboard Shortcut, we can press the combination of Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I.

For switch OFF IntelliSense, we can again do Right Click and choose IntelliSense Enabled option. For Keyboard Shortcut, we can again press the same combination of Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I.

NOTE

If we Right Click and check whether the session is already IntelliSense Enabled, then it will be Yellow Highlighted.

To Control IntelliSense at Session Level, First it needs to Enabled at Feature level.Check here for How to Refresh, Enable, Disable IntelliSense Feature in SSMS.

Conclusion

Thus, we saw how to switch ON and OFF IntelliSense Feature at Session Level in SSMS. This works fine for both Azure SQL DB and On-Premises. In Azure Data Studio, Refreshing the Cache will happens automatically.
